Archer’s Butchers, in Plumstead Road have won a Eastern award to reach the national stages ( UK winners in each six barbecue product categories will gain a place in the grand final, 31 may.)
One of these will have the honour of being crowned overall champion by the Q guild, which represents 110 butchers from Scotland all the way down to the south coast.
Archer’s Butchers was regional winner in the speciality sausage category with it’s caramelised red onion in it.
Jamie Archer said: “We’ve never entered it into a competition before but it’s very popular with our customers. We hope we’ve got a good chance of winning the national competition.”
Shop owner Andrew Edmonds said: “We are very proud to win for the second year in succession. The gourmet big-un steak burger, to give it its full name, has proved a big hit with my customers all year round.”
